Aesthetic Transmission Guiding the Subtext
04/18/26-05/09/26
In this group show, the artists examine traditional forms of communication—such as language, text, logic, talking, sentential logic, and math—to dissect their nature through 2-D, 3-D, video and sound artworks. By making these traditional forms of communication adapt to artistic gestures what happens to the communicator's original subtext, and how does it transmit to the viewer? Do the forms of aesthetic logic benefit from the forms of sentential logic, prose and narrative? When do the clashes between these different communication forms complement or conflict with one another while trying to convey a message or conclusion? The artworks address the exhibition theme in wide ranges, through personal experience and politics to philosophical inquiry. This exhibit questions how we examine and are influenced by the pairing of visual elements and written words in our everyday culture and what convinces us.
